Dentures are a set of artificial teeth and gums that fit your mouth and are made to replace natural teeth you lost or removed. There are two types of dentures; they can either replace all your teeth or just a few that are missing.
Besides improving the appearance of a smile with multiple missing teeth, dentures keep the mouth healthy by supporting the structures around the cheeks and lips. Furthermore, dentures can be a viable solution to replace teeth that are causing serious pain and oral health issues, such as those with rotted roots.
Your dentist will check for infection, decay, and previous dental work that can hinder the denture process and remove any other teeth before placing dentures. Then, the dentist will take mold and measurements of the remaining teeth to ensure that the dentures fit exactly. Once these results have been sent to a dental lab, the dentures will be made, and to ensure the dentures fit without issue, we will bring the patient in for a fitting.
There are a few different types of dentures, including partial dentures, full dentures, immediate dentures, and implant supported dentures. Your dentist will recommend the type that is most suitable to your needs and condition.
